Default How to move my dead 1810 with. hydrostatic transmission
Hello CC Community,
My father is handing down his 1986 1810 tractor...hasn't been started in over 10 years. It only has 600 hrs and I want to restore it.
I need to move it onto a trailer, but he told me since it has a hydrostatic transmission, he doesn't know how we can move it without damaging the transmission.
Any advice on how I can safely move it without it running?

You can push or pull it short distances at a walking speed.

Or use a tractor with a FEL and lift the back... Skid steer also would work...

Is there any type of lever or release in the back of the tractor to free up the transmission so it can easily roll? Sorry, the tractor is about an hour away so I'm not at a place where I can easily look at it.

If you push it on gravel the tires may still skid a little but like Sam said, it has auto release valves, so you'll be fine.

As I have said many times, tow as slow and as far as a toddler can walk.
Just an FYI:
If it has disc brakes they sometimes are stuck or dragging, it will not hurt anything.

Another novel idea.... back the trailer up to it and winch it on.....

Lift the back with a floor jack under the towing plate. You would need a trailer ball or a big bolt in the hole so the jack pad will have something to grip. Then you can drag the tractor around by the jack handle as long as it's a smooth surface.
