Default Picture of the Month: April 2017

This months submission is sent to us by local member John Hall from North Carolina. John wrote: "Here are some pics of mine and dad's assortment of Cadets. The 129 in the picture has been sold, but a 124 and 782 have been added. Dad worked for an IH dealer from 68-91. After retiring he kept working on Cadets for some of the dealers old customers for the next 20 years. Although you can't tell it in the photo, he is wearing one of his IH issued uniform coats and a Cadet hat he saved from the late 80's. Obviously that's a full size Cub in the background. And yes, the 100 has a school bus seat on it--makes a pretty good butt buggy for using around the farm! He still enjoys helping to work on them and anything farm equipment related." Thanks for the submission John!!!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
