M18 fitted in a Cub 782 fuel issue
I am trying to get a Kohler M18 that I put in my Cub 782 started. I used the wiring diagram that a gentleman on this page showed my and wired in the needed relay. Engine cranks and has spark, try’s to start on spray but I am pretty sure it’s not getting fuel. I found the little solenoid on top of the carburetor and I don’t think it’s getting 12v needed to operate. The wire just goes down into t(e engine, and I can’t find it on any of the diagrams I have seen. My question is can I just splice that wire to the 12 volts that goes hot when key is on?

Yes that should allow fuel to flow into the carb.
You can splice into the wire that originally fed 12V to the coil on your old engine |

I’m not sure what machine you’re new M-18 came out of but I never new any of them to have carburetors with the fuel shut off solenoid. If that’s what it has then the key on 12 volt terminal on the ignition switch would have to be used for that

That worked. I connected the little black wire to my 12v from ignition. Picture before I cleaned the carburetor.
Thanks, |

Not a problem, glad it worked for you.
Not a lot of Mag 18's had that fuel shut off solenoid, mostly the last of the production run. |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
