Default Barn find 1872

Found an 1872 today that hasn't had a very good life. Not for sure on the deck size, probably a 54. It's not a Haban deck, but it does come with a Haban hydraulic angle blade. Hour meter shows 564 hours but I'm sure it's not correct. Everything is there but all sheet metal has some sort of bend or dent in it. He said it starts and runs good, but the starter needs lubed up and 1 hydro relief valve leaks. Said he would take 500 and I said that was a little more than I wanted to give considering the rough condition. Then he said, make me an offer. I'm thinking about offering 400 and see what happens. Don't really need it, buuuuuut. What do you guys think?

I see just the plows selling for $400 plus so I think it would be worth it.

I agree, the blade is worth $400 so you would be in the tractor for $0. I picked up a 2182 (3 cylinder Kubota) with 60" Haban deck and 54" Haban blade 1030 hours on it 2 weeks ago off of craigslist for $750.00. Dirty but runs great, if that helps you in determining value.

I just talked it over with my son last night and I decided to pass, but he is going to get it and fix it up this winter. ( Like he needs another project!!) So far he has an IH 2424 that he rebuilt and now needs to paint and he is also going to build a BIGGER smoker. He built one earlier this year using a 500 gallon propane tank, which is Awesome!! He keeps pretty busy cooking on weekends for different occasions, and he really enjoys it.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
