Default Finally found a 451 blower!

Hey Guys I have finally located a Model 451 Snow Blower close by, but before I contact the seller and go make a deal I would like to know if there are any particular areas that I should be concerned with. What are the weak points on this model if any? I will be installing on my 1872.

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

you need a 450 not a 451 the 451 is made for a 6in pto pulley the 450 is made for the 4 1/4 pulley like your 1872

Ray,
Are the gear boxes different? Or just the pulley?

I understand that the 451 will work it will just turn slightly slower therefor not blow quite as far as if it had the larger pulley. Do you thing I can get away with it? Maybe change the pulley on the blower to match the one on the tractor?? In my area I am lucky to find the 451 let alone a 450...been on the search for more than a year now.

ok to make it work you need to put a 6in pulley on the pto clutch which I may have here just the pulley not the whole clutch

I ran a 451 blower on a 1450. I did make sure that I was actually running 3600rpm, and it did a good job for me. The guy I sold the package to said it does a good job for him too. BUT, now that I have a 1572 with the correct 450 blower, it does an amazing job. It impresses me every time I use it. Get the pulley from Ray, and be prepared to be amazed with how far you will send that snow. I am not sure about the double PTO pulley. I have never heard of that. If you use a mower deck on this tractor, you can likely switch it's double pulley for one that will work with the 6" PTO. Where in Ontario are you? I am near Brockville.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
