Default Drive train issues AGS Cub

I purchased a Cub of a coworker for $50.oo, it's a 2160. The drive-train is slipping somewhere. I took the drive-shaft out and there is these blue cylinders in what's called the drive-shaft barrel at both the engine side and the rear end side of the drive shaft. They were dust, so I got the blue cylinders and replaced them. The tractor rode good for a short period, and stripped out again. I also think the clutch needs to be adjusted or shimmed. I've seen some things about that problem online. Do I part this thing out or fix it? Everything else is in good shape motor runs strong not sure I like the AGS system.

I know absolutely nothing about that particular drive system. But, pounded the drive barrels out I'd say either you have an alignment issue with the shaft, or the inside of the trans is junk and it's putting too much stress on the driveline. I've heard that those trannys are junk. Sorry I can't be more help.

Some thing is very wrong if it is eating the barrels. I have never seen them go bad. The AGS is not worth you spending any serious $$$ on but if you decide to get into it here is a link on the fix

If you want a free rear for one I have one out of a 2160. It works but the clutches are extremely grabby. No slip at all.

I'll see if I have a box that it will fit in and see what UPS wants to haul it to you. PM me with your shipping info.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
