Loader-Tractor compatability
Hi all, I have a Johnson 10 TC loader that appears to be set up for a CC narrow frame tractor (inside width of the loader frame is 11.75"). I have no experience with CC tractors, but some with older green GTs (apologies).
What might be the forum's recommendation for the most suitable narrow frame tractor for this loader? Also are any specific years better than others? Are there any tractors or years that are best avoided? On Craigslist a 125 and a 107 are for sale at $400 each, but I don't know the years. Thanks for any help. |

Welcome to the asylum.
Cosmetically the different series tractors look very different. Mechanically they are all basically the same except hydrostatic drive or gear drive and naturally the size engines they have. I would stay away from the 7 hp models and would concentrate on a hydro just because they are easier for back and forth work. Loaders don't use much horse power so you don't have to have a 14 or 16 hp engine. Just my opinion and does not necessarily reflect the views of this forum as you will probably find out.

I agree the hydro would be easier to work with a loader, especially if you put foot controls on. I would look at 125s and up. The123 (2nd gen NF) and below had bushings on the rear axles. They can be upgraded to bearings. 125 (3rd gen NF) and up had the needle bearings on the rear axles. You're going to need some rear ballast with a loader.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
