Default Swapping hydro pumps (82 Series to WF)

I am in the midst of swapping a hydro pump in a 149. I believe this came from an 82 Series. It is painted silver and has the same input shaft as the 149.

The issue I'm having is the suction tube threads are different. I've been to hardware stores/NAPA/hydraulic shops and so far the only option seems to be building a hose to the tune of $70ish.

Has anyone encountered this before? I'd really like to avoid using a custom made hose. Fitting with O ring threaded into New pump, brass compression fitting fit into old pump.

I've never done this before so I'm not 100% sure.

Can you put a JIC to SAE O-ring fitting in and flare the existing tube?

I'm not sure if I can flare the existing tube.

However, calling this an SAE fitting yielded more results on Google than before. (Thanks for that). I'm fairly certain this will work. What are your thoughts?

My 149 pump had a failing input shaft. For the price of a replacement shaft a whole pump wasn't much more.

So I was able to make it work.

FWIW: I've read online that the original 149 fittings (at pump & trans) are proprietary. I don't think this is the case, but I couldn't find the fittings either...

I ended up making my own suction tube from 1/2" L copper. I used a street 90 and a 45 to make the correct bends. I re-used the pump fitting (with new ferrule) and used the style of fitting I linked (but had to return and buy 5/8" since it isn't IPS.

It seems to work. Now my reverse/forward is backwards but that's another issue!

take the 2 bolts out of your charge pump, turn it 1/2 turn and put the bolts back in.
if your lucky you will not even need to put a new "O" ring on it.

What do you mean your forward/reverse is backwards? The speed? Lever position?

Pushing the lever forward reverses the tractor, pulling the lever back drives it forward.

Also, if George is right, do I essentially "spin" the charge pump, or take the cover off and flip the pump guts like a coin and reassemble?
