Default 1650 no power

Ok guys here's a head stumper. When I got the 1650 it had the wrong engine and wiring was trashed. I sourced a 16 horse and rewired the spider web. This has been my go to work horse the last few years. Well about 2 weeks ago my son was using it on stick detail, we have some big pecan trees that are always shedding limbs. After he was done I went to take it to the shop so I could finally install the new clutch that just came in, hit the key and nothing. Charged the battery still zilch, battery is strong. Jave power at the sg, and key as well as solenoid. I'm baffled, changed fuses and still no fire.. You guys have any ideas?

does the engine turn over by hand or is it locked up ?...bad starter? 1650 doesn't use a starter/generator

Open up the S/G and check the inside of the terminals where the wires connect. They can break off, rendering the S/G useless. You can try and repair them or look for a kit that includes the terminals. I've seen them online at various places. I've had to repair the one on my 125.

Maybe the neutral safety switch.

Please clarify something....The 1650 originally came with an k 341 AQS with a starter and an alternator that was rectified. You replaced the engine with the same type of K series or one with a starter generator?

It does have the starter/rectifire set up. I inadvertently tagged it as sg..

Now if I apply fire direct to the starter it spins over. So its not the engine or starter. Its hard to jump this solenoid as the terminal is in a hard to get to place. I'm leaning in that direction myself..

Check to see if the spring tab is still in place for the pedal safety switch.

The PTO switch is also involved in the start circuit. Try wiggling the PTO switch some while you try to start, it's a common thing. You have a volt drop happening somewhere time to get the test light/meter out and start probing.

Maybe start with the simple stuff, the electrical connections at battery and switches. I have had fully functioning cars and tractors happen to die when were working an hour ago. In two cases it was corrosion at the battery terminal, between the wire and clamp. Lots of dirt, general wet crud around the switches and connections.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
