Default LTX1045 blades cut out

Recently the belt got fried on this '09 cub cadet LTX1045, with a 46 in deck. Replace the belt with a 101 3/4 because what it called for a 108" belt which was so big it wouldn’t even stay on. Any how, replaced the belt. I go to cut, drop the deck down to a 4, and the blades just turn off like you pulled the PTO lever up. I lift the deck back up and they turn back on. Any thoughts? Been battling this and no one has ever had this happen I guess.

First, welcome to OCC.........

A 2009 LTX1045 w/46" mower deck, uses belt: 954-04219 which is 1/2" x 103.25".

Using the correct belt and proper routing will put your machine back in duty.

See and that one felt overly loose. Is there an acceptable amount of play within that belt?

I don't know what you mean.

Use the OEM belt or the right size.

I put the oem belt on the 103. It’s “overly loose” meaning I can pull the belt off by hand with the pto engaged. The blades still stop spinning once I reach the deck height mark #4. I still can run the 101 and have it be a “perfect fit” but the blades still cut out.

Sounds like the belt is NOT properly installed (or routed).

Roland, the LTX1045 does not have an electric PTO.
It is manually engaged by a PTO lever that tightens the deck belt.
I think he is asking how much "slop" should there be when the lever is dis-engaged.
My guess is (assuming he has the correct belt) he has it routed wrong.

Angry

I wish that was the case. But according to the diagram provided on the deck all is correct. I honestly don’t understand this dang mower.

Obviously, something is wrong and not OEM.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
