Default Kohler 12hp problem

Alright guys I got a 12hp kohler that refuses to run so here is what it is doing. It is getting spark, the carb is getting fuel but the plug is dry so the motor is not getting fuel, now it will run if i shoot some gas in the carb but thats it then it will die and wont fire back up. So what am I over looking? I am not the biggest kohler fan and this one is trying my patience so anything you can do to help will be appreciated. thanks

Sounds like lack of fuel.

You make no mention of the Cub Model this Kohler is installed in. Might help if we knew that to further expand.

sorry I must have missed that the motor is in a 129 hydro

The only briggs I have is a twin 18hp I would have to chop up the frame too much. I did rebuild the carb and it worked fine when I drove it around just after I parked it it started this problem cause I needed to move it and I was going to use it for snow duty while I fix the oil leak on the M18

If you're getting fuel to the carb, but not in the combustion chamber when you crank over the engine, then one or more passages in the carb are blocked, and it's time for a thorough cleaning and rebuild.

I did that when I first got the tractor and it worked fine but I guess it has picked something up again. I just wanted to use the tractor some more I just got it last week and drove it around the yard once and everything worked fine but I guess its back to a carb cleaning again.

Welcome to the world of ethanol. If it sat with gas in it for any length of time I'd bet the carb is nasty inside.

If you have good fuel flo @ the carb, you might try taping on the float bowel with a screwdriver handle because it sounds like maybe the needle valve is stuck closed, it is not unheard of and sure is easy to do.
Next would be loosen the bowel and see if fuel flows from it.
You do have a "no fuel" problem from the sound of your description.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
