Default Picked up a 682

Picked up a super clean 682 with a 44 inch deck and a folder full of receipts and a spreadsheet of when it was serviced and what was done since it was new. It still has the protective plastic on the serial number plate. Got it home and checked it out needs front tires, starter solenoid, ignition switch and a head gasket. (Sorry for the pics I don't know how to fix it)

You beat me to that one...looks like a very early CCC machine, it has "International" on the dash (as per the Craigslist pics). The serial number tag entry does not look to be in the usual format. I wonder if there is red paint underneath the yellow?

Great find.

it looks to me like it has original paint I don't see any evidence of it being painted ever. It does say "international" on the dash I haven't done any research on the serial number yet. Since it's early it should have a series one engine

Thanks! I would tube them but the one that's flat has a split in it I can put my hand in so I want to get a set of ribs for it.

Since it's yellow, it can't be an IH. Especially not with the CCC logo on the front. On top of that, serial number is CCC. VERY early though. First month of the first year of CCC production. CCC serial numbers started at 700000. Nice shape and nice find.

Pretty sure the the KT Series II wasn't out yet when that machine was built, so unless the engine has been changed, it should be a Series I.

Cool find. Somebody took really good care of it. I've seen only a handful of Brownsville tags in my neck of the woods.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
