Default Hello Everyone!

How's it going folks?

Just got my 2nd cub cadet last friday. A 127 with a 44a mower deck, I believe that's from the Quietline series.

From what I gathered on tractordata.com its a 1969 model it also has the sleeve hitch and bracket bolted on the back.

Nabbed it on CL for $300, I think it was a good deal, Cadets seem to be fairly expensive in my area of NY so I didn't want to pass this up.

I used to have a 149 when in middleschool that I used in stock pulls, made the dumb mistake to sell it to my brother when I went to college. O well, I'll start over with this little guy:

Hello and

And I will very politely correct you. No, a 127 is not a member of the Quietline series of tractors. Still a very good deal on it though. My first cub was a 127!

Yes I understand the tractor itself is not a quietline. I believe the 44A deck is from a quietline series if my information is correct.

this cub originally came with a QA deck right?

Sorry for the confusion with bad sentence structure

It's cool friend.

The Kohler is anything but quiet, my neighbors hate it already and I've had it less than a week. They don't understand why I'd buy an old machine.

I explained to them that this old cub will outlast their Yardman and their next 2 mowers with proper maintenance and love. They still didn't get it.

I guess some people just can't appreciate the classics.

I love it, teach them to hate! You are so right about it outlasting the junk they have.

Welcome to OCC hope we can help it out last their next 3 or 4 Big Box Beaters!

Thanks everyone!

It's a great little machine. The generator still works which impressed me quite a bit. The engine has some blow by out the breather hole, but still runs strong. I may rebuild it as a winter project.

@livinlife:
When you changed valves did you replace fluid and filter?

If so, did you use hytran and a non-automotive hydraulic filter?

This sounds alot like a bolens at my dad's shop with a sundstrand pump. The owner changed fluid with plain oil and an autozone filter. The oil was not correct and the filter was an automotive one with a check valve that starved the tranny.

Another possibility is you purchased bum valves.

Hope this helps and welcome to the forums

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
