Default Hello from Central IL

New to the site, but not new to cubs. Started with cubs when I was 16 and am 24 now. Have owned quite a few cubs over the years (and a few different color ones too), from an O to a 125 to a 1650 and a few more in between there.

Anyways, have been out of the loop for a few years with moving and what not, starting to settle back down now and just picked up a 147 to start tinkering with. Will plow with it this fall, then start to tear it down for a winter project so when spring rolls around it looks like a new machine, until I get it dirty again

Hi, Kevin. I see you found your Cub Cadet. I know you posted a want ad over on the IHCC forum for one.

And welcome to OCC.

Yeah, after much deliberation picked up a 147, not the prettiest in the bunch yet though. Doing a tune-up, carb rebuild, fluid/filter, and all the good stuff to it this weekend, then to start cleaning it up a bit.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
