running issues with 149.
Got a new too me 149 that's in great shape. Its just not running right. Has a little sputter while running and when you open it throttle it responds well, but at about half throttle it just goes wide open, sounds like its over revving. When i idle it down it usually dies. I've change the carb, points, condenser, capacitor(did notice the other one was wired backwards), plug(had a e3 plug), and adjusted the governor. All parts came from isave tractors. (love his carbs). It absolutely made a difference but it is still all over the map with its revving. I'm thinking i may have a worn governor? I also checked the valve adjustment, they were a little loose but not bad. I'm sort of lost and looking for other opinions. Thanks in advance.

"All over the map with its revving".... meaning as the engine is surging back and forth because the governor is chasing? Did I read that correctly? Usually the cause of this is lean condition. Usually adjustments to carb will help that but do make sure fuel flow is ample and that there are no intake leaks.

I wouldn't say searching, but when you make a minor throttle movement its jumps. Like if i open the throttle up slightly it jumps to almost wide open throttle. Or if i idle it down it just wants to shut down.

On the idle down shutting down... You are likely need to adjust low idle needle and low idle speed on your carb.
On the throttle up jumps..... Something is at issue with the governor and/or the linkage, cable and springs. Could be something binding or the governor is not set properly. Moderator: I note the OP has created two posts on the same subject. Is it possible to combine the two in one? Thanks
