CH22S Leaking Oil
My CH22S in my 3206 started leaking oil out the front and rear seals yesterday leaving a trail of oil on my concrete. I figure it's a blown head gasket and maybe the PCV unit. I've pulled the motor out and the blower housing is packed with oil soaked "mud". Going to pressure wash it up before continuing.
So I need to order OEM head gasket kits for both heads, front and rear crank seals as well as parts and gasket for the PCV. I've heard Kohler improved the head gaskets (?) Where is the best or recommended place to get OEM parts ? CH22S 76516 |

I look up the Kohler part numbers then do a Google search to see who has the best deals

Thank you very much ! I got all the parts ordered. And I printed the Kohler engine service manual. I'm thinking the front and rear crank seals are the same part number so I ordered 2.

So while I'm waiting for the parts, I degreased and pressure washed the engine. I removed the flywheel first. The oily gunk was really packed in behind the flywheel and couldn't even see the charging coils.
Prior to cleaning I found where oil had been seeping out where the crankcase mates together right near the starter. I know both crank seals have been leaking but I think this crankcase area is the main leak when hot. So I'll be separating the case, cleaning the mating surfaces then applying good RTV and reassemble and torque properly. I also decided to do a compression test on both cylinders, which I should have done to begin with ! I get right about 180 psi on both cylinders which I figure is pretty good. Should I still go ahead and replace the head gaskets while the engine is out or figure it's good ?? |

replace them while it's out , did you get the ones with the metal fire ring?

No I couldn't find any head gaskets except these.
Are the new style available for this engine ? |
