2135 - A couple questions
I’m working on a 2135 for my aunt, and have a few questions.
First, it’s low on hydro fluid. What kind do these use and how much? Second, it is missing the linkage from the choke cable to the carburetor. Anyone have a picture of this? I assume it is just a simple linkage and I can make one, but I want to be sure. The red in the first picture shows where it should go, the circles in the second and third pictures show the where it connects to the card and the cable I’m also planning on changing the engine oil and filter, sharpen the blades, and grease everything. Anything else I should do or look at while I have it here?

I just got done fixing up an old 2135, I used Rotela 15-40 in the trans and a Cub filter.

The 2000's take 6 QTs. Buy 2 Gal's then you have enough for the trans and the engine.

Another question. It needs an idler pulley on the deck. I have one that I bought a while ago for my 1320 and it was wrong. It is about 0.5” bigger than the original one. Besides probably needing a longer belt, could it cause any issues if I use this, or should I just get the correct one?

Get the proper one or replace the bearing in your old one. You can drill out the spot welds, replace the bearing then bolt it back together.

'And to answer your question, you can prolly use the larger Dia. idler
depending on how the belt wraps around it. If it just leans against the belt, the tension spring will compensate for the slight increase. if the belt wraps around 1/2-3/4 of the diameter, it might not work. I'd for sure try it, no harm no foul. I'd still rebuild yours if possible as a spare if it can be rebuilt. I have seen some that the outer bearing race is part of the idler, in that case a new bearing is not going to work as it wouldn't fit.

George, I got it apart, the bearing is replaceable. I’m going to get one for it tomorrow and put the old one back together.
