Engine stalls at start up
Kohler SV541 18 hp engine stalls at start up. My 3 year old lawn tractor starts right up but stalls when I take my foot off the clutch unless I keep the clutch engaged for several minutes. After those several minutes I can release the clutch and the engine runs perfectly. This happened all last season too. Weather doesn’t matter either, cool spring or hot summer the engine stalls at start up. I’m starting the fourth season cutting a half acre lot with this tractor and there are only 32 hours on the meter. The air filter and pre-cleaner is new and the oil has been changed. I use gas stabilizer for winter storage. Is this a quirk of the engine or what? Any suggestions?

Sounds like warranty work to me if it has been doing it for 2 of 3 years ownership.
possibly it is a fool injection model and no carb to choke. Says keeps the clutch engaged with his foot on it??? that would be disengaged in my mind. it's way too early to get out my make/model crystal ball. I'd suggest talk to your friendly cub cadet dealer as they would know what they sold you, if you don't know.
