Ok, just maybe that is a little bit extreme. I would spray it with wasp killer ( at night when they are back in the nest ), knock it down and then crush/burn/dispose of it. |

Looks somewhat similar to a hornet's nest. Can't say for sure, though.

I think they call it a mud-dauber?
Nik Leave it alone & it will leave you alone-or- Wait till nightfall & get a hornet spray & spray the snot out of it & inside the hole also. ---OR--- Carb spray at night & be sure to get it in the hole -BULLSEYE!

No. It isn't a mud dauber. We have those things by the thousands down here in the South, and I know what those nests look like. I think that you will find that that nest material is more like paper than mud. Definitely the thing to do is to wait till dark and use wasp spray, carb cleaner, brake cleaner, or just throw gasoline or diesel fuel on it. A mixture of gasoline and diesel fuel work well because the gasoline actually kills better than diesel, but the diesel fuel is more oily and will not evaporate as quickly as the gasoline.

I would call it the beginnings of a paper wasp nest. There actually are some folks that come and collect these and get the venom from the bees. You might want to ask your local exterminator or find your local honey bee club and ask them. last resort I would use the spray that reaches out and can soak the structure (nest) from the ground.
Regards, Chris

Looks like the beginnings of a hornet's nest to me. Let it alone and it'll let you alone.

I sent pictures to Missouri Conservation and they said they are bald faced hornets and they are very aggressive so the nest will be history tonight... Here is a link to a nice article about them.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
