Default Introduction to new site for me.

Hello. I am from South Carolina. I have owned several International Cub Cadets over the past decades. The one I have kept the longest is a Model 149. I have had it for 30 years now and have used the heck out of it. However, I have taken care of it and maintained it well. It does not look new by any means, the headlights don't work anymore, and the rear tail lights are cracked. However, it still runs absolutely great and will go for hours at a time if necessary. It has the 44" deck and I have kept all lube points greased occasionally over the past decades. Currently, I have thought about selling it since I really don't need it or use it as much anymore. But, it does have sentimental value (worth nothing, I know) but it has been as trouble-free and dependable as an old '72 Ford truck I also owned for 30 years. That's all for now. Hope I can find some useful and interesting information on this site. Thanks for having me!

Welcome to OCC. There are a few members from SC here, what town are you near? Vince O (near Greenville) is putting together a plow day this fall so if you can make it, please try. Even if you don't bring your 149 to plow there are always extra tractors to run or just stand around and BS. It's always a great time. I too have a few sentimental tractors in my collection.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
