Default New from east Tenn,

Hello all. Just found this forum after doing a search trying to troubleshoot my charging system. I have a model 125 or so the hood says. After doing some research I found that the 125's were hydrostatic. Mines not. It's a manual transmission. I have had it since probably 1988.

I noticed not too long after I bought it that there were stickers on each side of the hood the same blue color as the rest of the stripes on the sides. I peeled one off and it says Hydrostatic under them. Was there an early model 125 that wasn't hydrostatic or is it a 124? It doesn't have the creeper transmission either but the holes are in the top for it.

I looked up the serial number and what I found is that it was built in Dec. of 1967.

Lots of good info here and I found how to check the voltage regulator to see if it's bad. Great site. Dave

I'll bet the hood was replaced, and it's really a 124.

Thanks for the welcome. Again, lots of good info here. I think I fixed my charging system. Took a jumper wire and just touched it from field to ground and it started charging.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
