Wide frame gear drive with hydraulics?
Hey I am looking for info on adding hydraulics to a gear drive. If I decide to do this, I would like mine to look clean. I found pictures and info about scott m's 1706 so this gives me a rough idea, but leaves out a few problems.
He didn't say where his pickup line was, so would you just tap the bottom of the trans and put a fitting there? If anyone else has done this, I would like to see some pictures of it done. Thanks, Austin |

I believe I have seen the rear cover being used for pickup and return. You might try searching on google for pics, but I know I have seen it done.

I've came across this photo and many others. Only downside would be no creeper gear as the pump would interfere

But with as little GPM's we are talking about it might not be a problem, and one is limited due to the small size of the reservoir. |

The size of the reservoir shouldn't matter on a closed hydraulic system. I would drill and tap the side of the transmission or reduction housing. Add a fitting for suction and return.

Procure a side mounted pump such as used on the DanCo loaders.
Operated via a belt off the accessory drive pully on the rear of the engine. DanCo added a pully to the rear of the OEM piece and used the right side tower as a reservoir. |

I'm not sure he has the pulley on engine but one could be added I'm sure.

That may prove to be rather bulky I would think.
Plus you would have to be careful where and how you mount it so as to not be in the way of the rams or frame uprights. I sure like the compactness of the DanCo set up |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
