LT 46 Xt1 won’t crank
Well I picked up a new fuel injected push button model - xt1 LT 46. Maybe 2 months old, 14 hours on it. Tonight I went to move it and when I pushed the button to start it sounded like an old school camera flash charging under the seat. No crank or anything. Starter was hot and wires going to started were also warm. Any ideas where to start with these?

Yep, I've got an idea where to start. Call the dealer who you bought it from. 2 months old, 14 hours and it won't start, and you have no clue...... good time to use the warranty.

Get ready for TSC to tell you to take it to a Cub dealer and then the Cub dealer will put you at the end of the line when it comes to service. The dealer is going to take care of the people that bought from him first. Maybe you can get TSC to take it back and give you a refund or a new one.

Sorry guys it’s been a crazy few days, here’s the latest update. So Friday night it would not start, called in the warranty Saturday. They had a local company come pick up the mower Monday afternoon. I called them Tuesday for an update and they didn’t even know they had my mower there... so yesterday, Wednesday the owner of the place calls me and tells me my motor is locked up and that they need to dig into it deeper to see what’s going on and the earliest anything would be done would be sometime next week. I told him I planned to call tractor supply to push for a refund and he told me to wait and let him check into it deeper. I mean if the motor is locked it’s locked and I don’t have time for that. I called the tractor supply manager who said to me a couple times now they will take care of me and if they need to swap me out they will. I told the store manager that they were going to dig deeper today and he wants to see how that goes. Looks like this is going to be a long fight.

I'm truly sorry for your situation,
nobody wants or expects for things like that to happen. But sadly they do, keep us informed of what happens, hopefully it is not a severe situation and the problem is taken care of properly and expediently. Document, and take names of all you talk too, hopefully you will not need any of it, but if you do you have more that hearsay. |

As a point of reference, my cousin bought a mid quality Deere from the dealership about 20 years ago. Engine went to smoking like a freight train within a week or two. He loaded it up, carried it to the dealer, they fixed something, next week it screwed up again. He carried it back for a refund. they agreed, but also told him they would give him another new mower (same model) or credit his purchase price toward any other new machine. Only stipulation was if he chose another mower they would not do any refunds if it had a problem. He rolled the dice, swapped for another machine and has been happy ever since. If you like the machine, I'd ask for a NEW mower. If you don't like it, get your money back and walk away.

Shop just called. He said they found that the motor is fine, the starter was stuck engaged. They have started it 20 times now and it is starting fine and they will drop it off today...

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
