Default 1650 Ignition Problems - Don't Make Expensive Assumptions
Thanks to the helpful information in various threads, I was able to diagnose the no-start problem on my 1650. Before consulting the forum however, I first bought a new ignition switch. The new switch didn't fix the problem, so I was about to order a solenoid, and then I thought that maybe the forum could help...

It was corrosion in the positive cable inside the eyelet at the terminal. A little baking soda and water did the trick. Thank you!

Common issue with the QL's.
Especially if they spend a lot of time getting wet.
Direct path for water to get to the ignition switch, right down through the slot for the hydro lever

To clarify, it was the positive battery cable at the battery end. I took the cable off and dunked the cable eyelet in a cup of baking soda and water a few times until the bubbling stopped. It left a good bit of crud in the bottom of the cup when I was done.
