K-series points ?
Has anyone tried Chevy points on a stock engine/or slightly modified engine? I know the pullers used them. My way of thinking is with Chevy points it would be easier to set the timing with a light. |

Not worth the added cost. I have them on my open RPM engine only because the Kohler points will float at high RPM. I tried using them on my stock engines and to be honest they were more trouble than they are worth. In fact I had two different experienced engine builders tell me to get rid of them.
Also set timing using the static timing method and don't worry about using a timing light. |

Honestly..... how often do you have to set the points that it needs to be easier?

I'm using them. Setting the stock points is an exercise in frustration. Much easier with the chevy points.

It can be aggravating yes,but better to stick with the stock points heres a link to how to static time. Start by setting your points at .20 and go from there.

Ditto, with the timming hole being on one side of the block and the points on the other side. Unless you are a contortionest (sp) or have a Buddy that you trust with a timming light. Although the cost maybe a little high I can see where using Chevy points would be easier. I do have a K-301 with David Kirks points saver installed for the last 3 years and I never replaced or adjusted the points. It fires right up and runs strong. Thank you Guys for your replies.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
