Problems with changing trans fluid on GT2554.
I changed the transmission fluid on my GT2554, and now it wont move. I even put a brand new pump BDU 10L-225 on the thing, and it still won't move. Tried purging the new pump as per instructions I found online. Still no luck. Stumped! The tractor is shaft driven so it is not a loose belt. Used all OEM Cub fluid and filter. Now what's left?

What was wrong with it to make you think it was the pump?

Because it ran for about 20 feet and quit.Thought it may have been a coincident, so I bought a new pump and installed it. You would think a brand new pump would do the trick, but no. It also made a clicking noise before it quit. Might be the rear end gears?

Don't know your machine but is it possible you ended up with and air
lock some how. When you purge the pump does it purge the whole system? Can you pressure it up with an air hose. Just throwing idea out there for what its worth. Ken |

Any chance you have the trans release in the release position?

You might try jacking both rear wheels off the floor, release the hydro, and rotate the wheels and listen/feel for something abnormal in the rear end.

The only time I've seen an issue like this it was caused by the wrong filter.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
