Default Another new guy form IL w/ 1811

It's ugly - faded, rusty, kinda high hours (900) but it runs great and cuts the grass!

Bought it (with 50" deck) this week from a local guy who has a sideline of buying blown up CC's and refurbishing. He rebuilt top end on the Kohler, tuned up and adjusted, fresh fluid in the hydro, new blades.

Long, wet grass for the first cut of the season; made it through like a champ. No oil burning I could detect. Getting used to the hydro, have been a gear driver for 40+ years.

Looking forward to learning a lot here!

Welcome to OCC!!

There is no "top end" on a flathead motor.

900 hours isn't high hours. It's low for that age of machine. My 1811 has over 2000 hours on it. Had 1200 on it when I bought it in 2001!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
