Default Kubota parts

Hi all, Just got my 2nd 2182 with the Kabota engine, and I'm having trouble finding a valve cover gasket for it.{Partstree has them for $26.00 each} Anyone have a good parts source for this Cub? I'm tempted is just using RTV silicon instead. I hope I don't need to find important parts that I can't get. Any info would help. Thanks, Don

Look up the cub cadet part number which should be something like KB-xxxxx-xxxxx. Remove the KB and search for Kubota parts. For example one of the 2182 models uses a KB-16861-14522 for the valve cover gasket (basically an o-ring). From Cub that part is $25 bucks. The same part number (16861-14522) from an online Kubota dealer (http://www.messicks.com/partdetail/16861-14522.aspx) is $7.37.

You will find it is much cheaper to get your Kubota engine parts directly from a Kubota dealer. You just need the part number.

I have also heard about someone making that gasket out of a large o-ring. They cut it to the correct length and glued the ends together.

Good Luck

Yep if you need Kubota parts try the Kubota dealer. I just had to buy a set of keys for my 1782 because I screwed up and didn't take the key out when I loaded it on the trailer, needless to say it fell out on the way home. Cub price $26 something I got them from the Bota deal for about $7 Same goes for Kohler and Briggs parts.

My local cub cadet dealer is also a Kubota dealer.
Also helps that I know all the parts guys. I tell 'em to look up the cub parts, transpose them over to the Kubota parts, and pay usually 1/3 to 1/2 the price. Gotta love the Cub, err, MTD markup.

I get my Kubota parts from http://www.m-and-d.com/. The gasket that was mentioned is $ 5.52 there and was superceded by number KB16861-14522. When I needed a water pump for my 782D, I got one there at a much cheaper rate than I could get anywhere else.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
