Mower deck springs LT1042
I have a LT1042 prior to 2007. The deck is a bit beatup. I think I have two springs and only one spring is on it now. I need to know the location of both pulley tensioner springs. It is making the belt jump off immediately now.
Thanks in advance for any help. At this moment I can't remember which side of the deck the current spring is attached to. It's the one that is pulling to the rear. Maybe both do? |

Youll have to look it up threw what spindels you have. They used 3 differant deck set ups.
I do alot of these with the same problem. Look at that big tension arm on the deck. Is it loose and woblly on the deck shell? If so theres your biggest problem. Theres one deck that one of the springs goes straight back to the piece of flat stock on the deck. It has manny holes in it. youll have to move it around to the one that looks the best and try it. If you have a pic I can better tell you. Go to the online cub parts and look up the model with the number under the seat and look for the deck set up. some used 1 idler and others used 2. This is why the parts people always want the model number under the seat not the number on the hood. Hope this helps. |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
