XT2 LX46 Fab Deck PTO will not Engage
Hey all, looking for some help here. My 3 year old (one month past warranty) XT2@ Lx46 fab deck just stopped on me.
Last week I mowed, just fine. Today, went out to pull it out of the garage and mow the lawn. When I went to engage the blades..... NOTHING. I should add, that this is technically a 2017 model. And I cannot find a wiring diagram anywhere. Pulled switch off, functioning properly from what I see. 4 prongs, normally closed (2 pairs). Engage Switch no continuity on the two pairs. Pulled off PTO clutch, activated with jumpers from 12 v and magnet engaged. Checked power at two prong connector with PTO clutch removed. I'm getting .5V with the switch engaged. That doesn't seem right?? Found the one relay located on the drivers side of the engine. Removed relay, and jumped the pins and relay would "click". Replaced relay anyhow, and still no PTO. So, I think it's not the switch, and I know it's not the PTO clutch. Is there a fuse or relay somewhere that I'm missing? .5V at the PTO clutch connector seems a bit low? Any help is appreciated! |

There could be a number of safety switches along the way between the switch you tested and the PTO that you seem to know is not the culprit. Without looking at schematic, there could be one in the seat and maybe one in reverse.
Without the schematic, I also ASS_U_ME the voltage should be 12+.

so, oddly I've got it working again.
I took apart all 3 safety switches and checked to confirm they were working. Which they all were. Put it all back together but had the deck belt off. Wouldn't engage. Figured I'd give up and take it to the dealer next week. As I was pulling out of the garage, I pulled to blade switch and heard the pto clutch engage. Jumped off and put the belt back on and it worked. Not sure what happened, but it must of had something to do with one of the safety switches. |

While I know nothing about this series of tractor, I know these newer tractors in the past couple decades have multiple safety interlocks.
I suggest checking things like seat switches (must be seated to operate PTO). Check for switch at speed selector as tractor may have to be in neutral or forward position to operate PTO. If in reverse, the PTO may release to prevent blade operation if reversing. Try sitting in seat, turn key on, but not to start, try PTO switch. Does PTO click and engage? My much older Cub has problematic connectors that vibrate loose and/or corrode. Check each connection at each switch. Let us know what you find.
