Model 149 hydro question
I picked up a Cub Cadet model 149 about a month ago. Finally got around to changing out all the fluids and have a question regarding the hydro unit. I changed the fluid with hytran ultra and the correct filter. Overall for a 38 year old tractor everything in the diff looked to be in very good condition. The question I have is should the tractor slow down when I engage the pto for the mower deck? Also at full throttle the engine skips a little any idea what this is?

Your Governor may need adjusting and or the springs may not be in the correct locations.
Here is the link for the Service Manual for your 149. Download it and go thru it. It will give instructions on trouble shooting and adjustments. http://www.onlycubcadets.net/forum/s...ead.php?t=4644 Also check on timing procedure: http://www.onlycubcadets.net/forum/s...ead.php?t=4405 Kohler Service Manual: http://www.onlycubcadets.net/forum/s...ead.php?t=4646

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
