Default Cub Cadet 2166 puking oil out of breather tube

I just bought a 2166 with CH16S-45509 motor. The whole underside if the hood was covered with oil and gunk. I was told it was the PTO seal. I took the mower to the car wash. After it dried, the seal appeared dry. The oil was coming out of the breather tube. I checked the read valve and replaced the head gasket. I still have the problem. Any suggestions ??

A leaky crankshaft seal can make the engine pump oil out of the breather. While you're checking the front seal, see if you can move the crankshaft up/down.

If you're compression is good, I'd think you have a crankcase sealing problem somewhere.

Default Oil problem on 2166

When I first got the mower the oil was over full and smelled like gas, I changed it and replaced the carb. The old one had rust and dirt in it. I have replaced the head gasket. I am afraid that the old owner ran it a lot over full because of all the mess under the hood. I need to do a leak down test, to see if he took out the rings.

Sounds like you found your issue.

You need to address the reason you are filling the crankcase with fuel.
A needle/seat not closing properly or a ruptured diaphragm in the fuel pump are 2 reasons.
If you replaced the heads gasket you saw the condition of the cyl walls.
An engine will make a real big mess running only a short time vomiting it's diluted lubrication out the filler tube.
Good thing is it keeps things from rusting

Default Oil problem on 2166

I found out the fuel pump diaphragm leaks fuel into crank case waiting on new fuel pump.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
