A complete super for $400? If it halfway runs then heck yeah its worth it. Those decks are built like a bushhog, you don't trash them you just start welding them back together and replacing worn out wheels. Honestly unless its torn up, engine knocking, or something else catastrophic wrong, It should well be worth it. I paid $600 for my 982 and put that much more into it plus a lot of elbow grease. No way would I sell it for what I have in it.

This is why people miss deals. Because they screw around posting questions like this and miss them. Good grief.
It wouldn't matter if the engine was blown for that price!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
