XT3 GSX with 54" fabricated deck
Okay, my local Kubota dealer has a Cub Cadet XT3 GSX with 51 hours on the clock for sale. They are asking $3200 for it. I'm not sure what year it was built so I need to check that out.
I picked this Kubota G1800S tractor a few years ago for $150, not running and a few other issues. I put it on CL at the end of the summer looking to get $1500 for it and only had a little interest. DSCN2122.jpg These are pretty cool little tractors with an awesome D662 engine but why Kubota built it without power steering is beyond me. I think these GSX's retail for around $5k and the deck is another $1k....I know 99% of the members here think these are a pos. I was thinking $1500 difference but the dealer is wanting $2k + tax. What do you all think?

I think you should remove that D662 from the Kubota tractor and use it to repower a Cub. Maybe a nice 982.... another 982, not the one you already have.
Sell what's left of the Kubota as a roller parts machine. And forget about the XT. *****OR****** Keep the Kubota all together instead of taking it apart and use it. It's a better tractor. Won't cost you anything to keep it. ****OR**** If you feel an urge to spend a handful of cash, you can send me the Kubota and $500 in cash and I'll send you a 104. You will have spent less, and gotten a tractor that is made better and will last longer than the XT..... and I will be happy, happy, happy! |

Should be a sticker under the seat or seat mount that will tell you the date of mfg.

Oak I know you are someone who likes the 3000 series as I do. I have read reviews from GSX owners who love the tractor and think they are very comparable to the 3000 series. I would ask the dealer to split the difference in prices with you and I think that would be a good deal on a low hour tractor.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
