Default Custom planter

Ive been toying with the idea of building a cub sized four row planter and even want to add row markers with raising and lowering wheels. I plan to use this planter in my garden and for the food plots at our hunting reserve. Im thinking of borrowing the looks of an old IH planter, not a cyclo air, but older and the JD maxemerge is also a possible donner for ideas, but in the end it will be painted IH red and white! Im looking for ideas on the planter units, like buying some cheap push type and cutting the handle off or something. The only things i havnt figured out is how to make the wheels raise and lower along with the markers. I could do hydrolics, be a good excuse to put rear hydro ports on my 1450 , but im also intrigued with the use of electrics, but dont want to strain my elcetrial system, and im not a big fan of having ropes tied to arms for the markers either. Im just interested in hearing everyones ideas and opinions as i cant build it right away right now. All are welcome to chime in!

I guess my question would be. Are you wanting a planter or a grain drill? You don't plant grain like oats, wheat or barley in rows and expect it to amount to anything. These would be planted with a grain drill or broadcast onto the soil and covered by soil.
On the other hand, corn would be planted in rows, a grove in the soil followed by the corn and covered with soil. What are you wanting?

i was orignally thinking of a planter, but as you said the crops other than corn wouldnt be suited for a planter, (sorry for my error as i was a little tired and not thinking straight), but a drill would also be nice!

But im going to start with the planter idea first. Corn being the crop to use with it, as we love sweet corn, and so does every F@#$%&@ animal out here and at the reserve. So my thinking is to make a plot for them and a plot for us, then go bag a deer or two at the first plot and eat well for a few days!

I have an older JD 3pt corn planter, but your looking for a trailor type I'm guessing? They still are around, I've seen them for sale once and awhile. Look one up in Google, and you could get an idea of what it consists of.
I'll see what I can find, maybe some pictures from a manual? ! ?

manual pics are the best! or if you come across a manual or two, it be IH or JD i would be interested. I havnt realy decided if i want a trailer type or more of a tool bar set up. Tool bar would work of the sleeve hitch or even a Cat 0. but the trailer is just drop a pin an plant.

Ive been looking at both kinds alot lately, kinda liking the looks of the IH 465, IH 800, the JD 494-A, and 7200 series max-emerge type planters

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
