Sputtering problem
I own a Cub Cadet 1554 with a 27HP Kohler engine. No problems for 7 years and well maintained by myself, 219 hours total. While bagging leaves and cutting grass under load the cub runs for 10 minutes and then all of a sudden sputters out. Will restart and run but does not run long after first issue. Replaced the fuel pump, air filter, fuel filter, spark plugs and added sea grass to the fuel and carb. Sent to dealer and they replaced fuse panel??? and gas cap. Problem remains any suggestions to problem??
I thought fuel or carb related now think electronic, heat, electrostatic drive related to blades or even a safety device getting too hot?? Dealer cannot find intermittent problem. |

Find a different dealer. If you paid a dealer and they didn't fix it, you can bet your a$$ they would get it right.
Intermittent electrical problem. Like you said, most likely heat/poor connection related. Could be 1 of about 25 things. If you are hell-bent on fixing it yourself, you need to do some diagnostic work. Find out if it is losing spark for sure, or if it is fuel related. You didn't give us anything to work with. "Get's hot and dies" on that machine could be a lot of different things. |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
