Default Slipping Transaxle?

Greetings fellow Cub owners! I'm glad I found this site, aside from the help I am seeking, lots of great information some classic Cub pictures and information as well.

I have a 2015 Cub LT1. Absolutely love it, as it has helped me transform my "meh" yard, into something people like to look at..at least up front..still working on the back..lol. Damn rabbits and other critters digging it up and eating cleared patches of my grass... Although, new neighbors dog seems to keep a lot of those away now, so it's looking good..lol

Anyway, I was pulling my aerator a few days ago, and I noticed the tractor felt like it was struggling to pull it, even on flat ground. I disconnected it and then tried to drive the tractor, but she wouldn't budge. The pedal just goes down, neither front or reverse was working. I made sure the bypass wasn't engaged, and then tried again. It wanted to move forward, but nothing in reverse.

Jacked it up a bit, and looked under to try and see something, but it's not that easy to see much. I can see the bypass lever moving something else on top of the trans, but I can't reach up to it at all and check if it's loose in anyway, or not pushing enough. I've been told these trans units are built like a rock and likely will never fail mechanically, but I'm at a loss now.

As of today, the mower does move forward a bit, but it feels like it is slipping, definitely not reaching full speed. Reverse is jittery, so I'm not even trying that at all. I have it parked in it's home for now, as I don't want to do any more damage, but I don't know what could be causing this.

I will need that tractor at least for fall cleanup, so I'm hoping someone here can drop some advice, or maybe point out something that can be adjusted. Local shops in my area are saying 3-4 weeks out for any repairs, as this is the busy season...

I would start by looking over the drive belt and pulleys real good. Regardless of how the belt looks I would replace it.

So.... is there another number on there with it? I find no record of an LT1. There are XT1's, but not LT1's. Gotta be some more info. Need that to help you any.

The old Cubs tranny was bullet proof. Not that model's trans. They aren't even close to the same thing.


I agree with Tim. I'd be checking the drive belt. If you can't find the trans drive belt, or don't think you can change it, better get on the waiting list of a shop.
