Default building/buying a clutch

Hey guys,

What the best setup to get from Midwest Supercub for a clutch? I've got a K241 now with some stuff down to it but I'm gonna put a bigger motor in it soon.
Any hints on what would do best?

Give them a call, tell them what you are going to do and see what they say. I'm happy with the clutch I got for my 71/121 project.

Always check the rules with the club you want to pull with , that may be a deciding factor on your decision . There are a lot of tricks to modify stock clutchs for lower HP motors. I used a double cluth with cub clutch disc and a red MWSC spring for a few years without any troubl . There is nothing wrong with MWSC clutchs other than the extra cost if you don't need a big clutch.

I'd suggest the Kevlar disk. if you only run 10.5 wide tires you wouldn't need anything more than that. you can ride the Kevlar disk and it has good holding power. put that together with a 6 pin driver , billet plates and red spring you'll have a real nice clutch. if you're planning on a bigger engine like a mod engine or 25 twin and going to larger tires you may want to consider the 3 puck clutch. all the parts interchange except the driveshaft. the holes for the plates have to be further apart due to the 3 puck disc being thicker. allot of people run the aluminum disc that others sell but they work like a on off switch. you can't ride or slip them. the stock double disc clutch's work well to a point. 30 years ago that's all there was . We ran them in our pro supers and replaced them allot.

have you considered trying to get our sponsor mark hellrung to make you up a clutch? I am not sure if he will do that but he does rebuild stock narrow frame clutches (new driveshaft, springs, turns the pressure plates, and puts in new pins). The stock replacement he sent me is top notch quality wise.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
