Same frame across generations?
I've seen some talk on here about the same frame being used across the 1000, 2000, 2500, 3000, and even the modern XT series. Is this true? Has the same frame been used for 25+ years across various LT and GT models? How far back does this frame actually go in models?
I've also seen reference to "wide" and "narrow" body frames. What constitutes those? |

The frame on my Series 2000 HDS2155 is as far as I can tell exactly the same frame on my current GT2550

Some search time on the parts lookup site will answer your questions.
Compare part numbers and pictures. |

Probably because there is a slight variation due to different parts that are attached to the frame itself to mount different items that were not on the previous models.

Basically the 2000 series from the 1990s through the Current XT3 series is the same, except there was a Frame cross Member By the Trans Mission On the early 2000 & 2500 series frames. That was dropped On the Later 2000 & XT3 series Frames 2011 and after
The rear Hitch Plate on the Later 2011 and after 2000 & XT3 series is different as You Cannot accommodate the older OEM Electric Lift sleeve Hitch or 30 inch Hydraulic tiller. But I bet the Older 28-inch PTO tiller from the Original 2000 series will fit Because it Mounted Into the Rear Frame rails and not on the Outside of the Frame All Other attachments such as the front Mounted Blade, Blower & thrower will work on a XT3 series today so will the Original front & rear weight brackets for the Pre-2011 2000 series. Just as the XT3 series Manual lift sleeve Hitch will work On the Older Pre-2011 2000 & 2500 series The 3000 series was Built On a different 9 gauge Frame design which is similar to the Pre-2011 2000 series and 2500 series which were On an 11 gauge Frame But there are extra cross Members On the 3000 series frame as well The 2011 and after 2000 series uses the GT3100 Transmission final drive But with a BDU 10 Pump instead of a BDU 21 found on the GT3100 tractor

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
