UPDATED w/DETAILS: Asking price of 2001 3240 40th Anniversary Edition
Hi Everyone, Need your input. I‘m thinking about selling my 2001 40th Anniversary 3240 with 48” deck. What is a fair, appropriate price? Here are the details:
It is in excellent condition. I just had it dealer serviced for the season. I had two new front tires put on it, new deck belt, new fluids and filters and lubricated, plus had the blades sharpened. I’ve had it dealer serviced every year since I bought it new. 723 hours of use. It has been garage kept. I have photos but they are evidently too big for upload. What is a fair price? |

Got any pics? Does it have the hub caps, how many hours are on it and are all the decals on it yet? PA pricing may hurt you a little but down here they bring over $1500.

Thanks for the reply! I will be doing a detail on it, possibly this weekend, and will shoot some photos and post them. I’ll also post the hours. Yes, the original chrome wheel covers and all decals are still on it. Thanks, again!

Is this your 3240? Deleted the link because it wasn't working.

No, I haven’t advertised it yet. Was hoping for some input on here regarding what is a fair price, before I decide to put it up for sale.

The one I posted the link for was $1,000 in Meadville, Pa. Cosmetically it had a number of issue. Broken headlight, missing left rubber on floor pan, and significant rust on tractor and deck. Price will vary considerably based on condition, attachment options, and number of hours on the tractor. I've seen a well kept tractor with low hours with just a deck and no other options sell for as high as $1800 here in Pa. The anniversary edition will probably only interest a CC collector and won't influence price much. Start the price on the high end and adjust based on interest.

Appreciate the feedback very much. Thank you. I will also post some photos after I get done detailing it this weekend or next. The recent service was substantial. Put new tires on the front and new deck belts on it, as well. Plus, the regular annual maintenance, as well. I’m still sorting out whether I’m keeping or selling, but regardless, wanted to make sure it is in good order for the buyer, if I go that route.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
