Paint
I am looking for information regarding rattle can paints, both the yellow and white, to touchup on my 2518 mower. I did a search and found some information posted several years ago but was wondering what was the most popular nowadays. Thanks

If you have a case IH dealer near to you they should carry the Iron Gard in the white IH 935 and IH Federal yellow are a excellent paint for match.

Not sure if the 2500 series cubs use those colors? That is a much later series than the IH GT’s.

Cub Cadet dealers sell the correct paint you need, or try our sponsors and online sellers.

Thanks for the quick replies. As near as I have been able to determine the yellow I am looking for is the 759-3940 but I have not been able to determine the correct number for the white can anyone help with that? Also, I have no problem with buying from the advertisers on this board I’m just looking for the correct color paint that is a decent quality and at a reasonably competitive price. Thanks.

My search for the paint numbers for my 2518 turned up 759-3940 yellow and 759-3735 white. I also found the colors for my 2185 and that is 759-3588 yellow and the same 759-3735 white. As best I can find these are the correct numbers for the rattle can paints for these two mowers if anyone has different numbers please let me know. Thanks.

Take a piece of each colour from the tractor to an good Auto parts store and they should be able to colour match for you and put it in an aerosol can

Here's the best, and least expensive option for you. Rust-Oleum (EXCELLENT paint) makes a color called "Almond White", item number 7770830. This is pretty much an exact match to Cub Cadet white.
I'm not too sure about the yellow color, but this may help. https://www.onlycubcadets.net/forum/...ead.php?t=6275 |

Oz and Jp, thanks for the replies and link. If the paint numbers I posted before are the correct ones then that should allow me to find a local source for a decent paint for my old Cadets. My 2185 is in decent cosmetic condition but has several mechanical issues and my 2518 will be pretty mechanically sound once I get the carburetor issue sorted out but it is extremely rusty. Previous owner lived down by the ocean and apparently the salt air did a job on it. Frame and fenders have a good bit of rust and the running boards have numerous rust holes in them. Hope to eventually find a good condition cadet, with a bad drivetrain, that I can swap my engine and trans over to. Anyway, thanks again to everyone for their input.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
