Cub cadet 1000 valve cover upgrades need suggestions
Hi folks, I've been working on my 1000 and have an issue with the breather cover. It's been bowed out and had friends suggest kirk engines' billet cover. Unfortunately he is no longer selling them. Anyone have a lead on a similar company? I like his idea with the hose to reduce oil leakage. TIA

Don't believe I've introduced this one yet. '77 1000 with creeper i bought at a consignment auction for $125 with mule drive. . Only thing I've done to it was new battery, points, air filter, fuel line and valve, and axle seal. Starts good, could use carb flushed as it looked to have sat since ~2018 as it stumbles a bit. Needs electrical gremlins patched because it doesn't charge and driveline fixed as the clutch hub is worn badly ( engine mounts are almost gone so it got solid mounted).

you will need two gaskets and make sure you put it back together correctly.
There is a drain hole in one of the plates. |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
