Default Picture of the Week: May 22, 2016

This weeks submission is sent to us by local member J.B. Evans aka Jubber from State College, PA (Penn State Main Campus). J.B. comments "This is an original IH built Cub Cadet 682 with approximately 480 hours on the original Kohler KT17 Series I engine. The engine runs strong and has a lot of life left. The tractor has been lightly used and has only been used to mow flat yards and move a little snow. No hills or slopes have been mowed, that has always been an issue for the Series I engines. This is a well taken care of tractor and has always been stored indoors. I have the original service and owners manuals as well as some neat brochures. I also have a lot of NOS parts that fit this tractor (not installed) including a NOS seat, NOS front grill, NOS foot pads, NOS field improvement package, and much more. Three of the chrome hubcaps on the tractor are NOS. The only item that I restored is the 44c mower deck. I also have a #2 cart and a snow blade for this tractor." Thanks for the submission J.B.!!!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
