Default 2182

Just purchased a 2182 and mowed with it last weekend. It did a good job and worked like it should around the house. But, after I parked it, an hour or so later, I started mowing the pasture fence lines, and the power steering was hardly working. Now, it doesn't work really at all. The fluid check under the seat shows full. It's pretty clear fluid, but is just below full. The tractor was sitting for quite awhile, one owner though excluding dealer. Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Bob

I would start with changing the fluid and filter, when the filter starts to plug the trans will still operate ok but things like hydraulic lift and power steering stop working.

Ok thanks, I will try that.

Also, any reason why when I post I have a hard time finding my post, if at all? I saw even this post was "moved" with no posting detail in terms of time and date.

What would be the best fluid and filter to get? Would May nards have the good oil and filter or F&F? Nearest Cub Cadet dealer is about an hour away.

Is there a Case International big tractor dealership close by? Get the Hytran oil there. I stick to Cub filters.

IF....a thread is posted in the wrong section, usually a Moderator will relocate it to the proper section for the best view, and response of that subject. It is almost done daily for a variety of reasons.

1: I moved your post, you had it in the wrong section.

2: Here is a list of acceptable hydro filters. I'm guessing you have a NAPA or O’Reilly Auto Parts

Ok, thanks.

Is there a chance there could be air in the system? Is there a bleed valve on the tranny I can use?

No and no. Change the fluid and filter.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
