Default Help identifying year

The information on the Cub Cadet website appears to only be for the newer stuff. My serial number is only 6 digits long. I know the cubs before 1997 had different serial numbering schemes. Can anyone help me identify what year my 2155 was made?

Model: 13A-244G100
Serial: 362116

1996-1999. I loaned out my 50 years of CC book, but it might not narrow all the way down. Is there a date under the seat on the label w/ the S/N?

Older ones up to cyclops at least always had a date code next to the S/N tag on the frame, where the first letter is also the year of that decade. Ie "E" is 1995, coincidentally they'd end the first 3 of the model code in 5 too.

The model/serial data looks to be incomplete. How about snapping a picture of the tag and posting it.

Another oddity is this tractor has the 42in deck from serial 359000 and below according to the parts diagram, but the serial appears to be higher than that. So unless the deck was swapped out with an earlier one, it's even more confusing...

There is a small tag to right of the main tag. Can you read the characters and post them ?

That's a sticker and it is totally worn away and unreadable unfortunately. You think that was the rest of the model/serial number?

I was thinking that the 4th digit of the serial # is the year , so that would make it a 2001 . but tractor data shows they were built from 96-99 ????????????

Whelp, I guess I'll never know. I'd like to think it's one of the earlier ones due to the deck, but the first digits of the serial suggest otherwise...

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
