Default Tiller Mule Drives - Where are they now?

Where have all the tiller mule drives gone? It seems like it is somewhat easy to find a tiller but the mule drives are impossible to find. Even the solid pulleys with replaceable bearings are scarce.

Did IH sell tillers and mower decks with the same mule drive? I thought I read here that the angle on a mower mule drive will reduce the life of the expensive long belt.

The reason I am asking is my 1450 came with a tiller but no tiller mule drive. I have a 44” deck and mule drive with it. I don’t want to modify (straighten) the pulley brackets on the mule drive so I am left with getting another one to use the tiller. I got thinking about it and if IH sold tillers with mule drives they have to be somewhere. Where did they go?

Bob

I guess they went to the same place as tiller belt guards and tiller belt guides and plow coulters. I did find a plow coulter from a great member here.
I straightened a 44" deck mule drive for my tiller, and gave up finding solid pulleys.
When scrap metal was high a few years ago crackheads took lots of good steel to be shredded up for China around here.

Lew probably also has a warehouse full of them, hidden away somewhere.

More than likely he calls them his 401K.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
