44c mower deck spindle bearings
These are the sealed type, can they be pressed out or do I have to replace the hole thing?

I think they are sealed. Someone more knowledgeable can help you out. I believe the older 38" and 42" decks have bearings that you can replace individually and the newer 44" and 50" have sealed bearings that need to be replaced as a unit with the shaft. Hopefully someone who knows for sure can answer this.

The bearings on my 48" deck are replaceable and it's a very easy job to do.

The ST-745 is a bit hard to find, in that, CC wants to sell you to whole "spindle assembly".
I would try the sponsors above first, Then I would try the Dealers listed in our Parts Resource Section, and lastly, a good ole google search.

In my search last fall, I finally came up with Carter & Gruenwald (i think i spelled that right). They were the only ones that had that type of bearing. They are in the deck on the 149 and are working great. Last fall they were $64.00 each.
New one in the front. |

The only thing that I can think of is, that it is part of the manufacturing process.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
