Will it fit?
Have a cub 70 with a K161S Kohler in it now that is going to be pulled and rebuilt, Have A Kohler K301A that I want to put in the 70 till I finish the rebuild
. My question is will the K301A fit? Not pulled the K161S yet as it is not at my house or I would try setting it in and look at it. My thinking is other then HP they should fit as they are both NF engines , (my wife talles me not to do the thinking as she is better at it then me.) Still looking on line but so far not coming up with an answer Thanks for the help Joe |

The gas tank from the K161 would not fit on the K301, so as long as you have the gas tank for the K301, I can't think of any other issues.

Besides the gas tank the throttle cable is longer on the 7 horse engine.
Not 100% sure- the bracket holding the starter generator on the engine may be different.

You would also need the gas tank from a 100 or 102 as the k301 tank is larger and will hit the cross brace on the hood.

Thanks for the info, Don't know if I will take the old motor out after all.
Still looking into a good machine shop to get the old motor machined if needed. Wife keeps adding to her list of things to do now that I've gone and retired from a full time job so I don't have as much me time as I had hoped. Once again thinks for the info. Joe |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
