Another Cub
As soon as I figure out where to put/hide this one, I will bring it home. I've seen it sitting outside for about a year now so I just walked up and knocked on the door. It runs fine, all it needs is a battery.
I don't want to gloat but the deal went down for $100.00 Yes $100.00! This is on top of last weekends running 108 for $25. I have been having a very good run here as of late. WIll update you all when I get her tucked away in the shed. The serial number plate is missing, did IH stamp the serial No. anywhere else on the frame? |

Wow weaverama, you sure have been doing well, with the deals lately! Congrats, on your 1650. Unfortunately, IH didn't stamp the serial number anywhere else, on the tractor.

Jim, I will come up with something so I can ease the wife into my new found hoarding. It's going to take her at least a month to realize that the 1000 and the 1650 are different tractors. She won't go in the shed....too many black snakes have been seen in there. The 108 is still down in Virginia at my friends house getting a little TLC. I will need a complete new fender pan for it, will any wide frame fender work? |

I hid an A farmall behind a 720 John Deere one time for almost 5 years before my wife noticed. Told her it was there when we moved in the house, worked pretty good until she remembered I am the one that built that shed ..............oh well, can't keep em hid forever ! ! !

OK, so i swapped a new battery in it and gave it a shot of starting fluid and she starts right up after sitting since at least summer. No Smoke. PTO switch is either bad or disconnected, did not have time to look at it this morning, had to work. Hydro lift lever is stuck; it will not move and I do not want to force it. She runs smoothly in forward and reverse. Man that 16hp sounds good! Took a while to get used to using the forward/reverse lever rather than the foot pedal on my JD.
Any thoughts on the lift lever is appreciated, I have never owned one before and it may be awhile before I can diagnose. |

a possible way of getting the hydraulic lever to work again
Ok, if your lever has zero movment (no play at all in the linkage) I can't help you. if it has a little movment, like the amount expected from a 35 year old linkage, pull the gas tank, and the hood support that are mounted to the dash. you should see all the linkage. put some PB blaster or whatever you use, on the actual valve rod. to the best of my knowledge this sticks out the top of the valve housing. hey, while your down there you could check the PTO switch, and all the wiring associated. I am probably barking up the wrong tree thinking the valve itself might be froze. but I think it might be worth a shot

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
