Lgtx 1054 doesn't want to move
Hey guys, I recently bought a used lgtx 1054, and I used it for about 3 hours, and all was good. The next day when I went to pull it out to use the machine made a loud whining noise before the trains engaged. Now I have to pump the forward pedal to get it moving. The noise persists at low rpm and high. Is this a belt slipping or something wrong with the trans? And insight would be greatly appreciated!

Does the trans leak fluid? Generally a whining sound from a hydrostatic trans means there is air in the system and that's usually caused by low fluid. I would remove the deck and check the condition of the pulleys and the belt, even if the belt looks ok it's possible it has stretched and is no longer tight enough to drive the trans.

I'll be pulling the deck tomorrow, checking/ replacing belt, and flushing the trans with new oil. Thanks for the reply. I'll let you know what I find.

So today I inspected the belt, and checked trans oil. Belt appears to be good and tight. Trans oil was up to fill port, and didn't smell burned. Oil has a slight green tint to it but seemed okay. Now my mower won't move at all. When I pull the trans release out all the way the mower won't roll free. Could this be the issue? When it's running and I pull the lever out and depress the pedal it does nothing no noise... but still won't roll freely.

So you have 2 issues now???? First, check the linkages and get back to us....to ensure everything is in working order for engagement.

These things are notorious for having bad transmissions. Hope you didn't pay much for it. Google "Cub Cadet GTX 1054 transmission problems"

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
